Shartzer, Ruth Marie (Knies),
daughter of the late Perry J. and Edna Mae (Fritz) Knies, passed away on September 24, 2014.
Born August 15, 1927, Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Shawnee High School, Doss High Hall of Fame member, and member of Lynnhurst United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Hayward B. Shartzer.
Survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith (Kristy), Steve (Sally) and Kevin (Leigh); seven grandchildren, Bryan (Brianne), Sarah, Kent (Allie), Adam (Amber), Cynthia (Kyle), Meagan (Steve) and Susan; seven great-grandchildren, Cole, Callie, Grant, Stevi, Crew, Ainsley, and Kenlie; sisters-in-law. Mildred Roberts (Tom), Judy Shartzer (the late Phil); her late sister-in-law. Mary Thomas Hack (Shartzer); and lifelong friend, Martha Myers.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with a procession to leave at 1:30 p.m. for chapel service at 2 p.m. in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday.
