Samuel Frank Fancera, Jr.

Samuel Frank Fancera Jr., 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday August 11, 2023, from a short-lived illness.

Sam was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 9, 1944. In his young adult years, he served time fighting for his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970.

Sam married Rhonda Lynn Colvin on July 8, 1995. The two lovebirds just celebrated their 28 year wedding anniversary, but together 35 years total. Together, they grew their family out of love and were blessed with their son, Nicholas Anthony Fancera.

For his career, Sam was employed by CRST and George Transfer by being an owner/operator for the past fifty plus years. He proudly drove his 1979 International semi-truck and flatbed trailer four million miles across the United States serving many different communities. This past year, he was recognized by the company with a safe-driving award for all of the miles he has covered.

Sam is survived by his love, Rhonda; son, Nick; brother, Marty Anthony Fancera; and many other family and friends. Because of his love for others, he truly never met a stranger. Sam was a one-of-a kind man who could capture your heart quickly with his easy conversation, love of the Rolling Stones, and impressive dance moves.

Sam is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Fancera, Sr., and mother, Christine Camillie.

The memorial service for Sam will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at  Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West, 4400 Dixie Highway, at 1 PM. Burial will follow immediately after. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 11 AM to 7 PM at the same location. The memorial will be officiated by Pastor Matt Morris of Cornerstone Community Church. Memorial arrangements are being handled by Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes West.
