Sara Elizabeth Hilbert, age 30, of Springfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2024. Sara was born May 7, 1993, to Joseph Hilbert, Jr. and Tina Murray, in Louisville, Kentucky.
At the age of 14 years old Sara suffered a traumatic brain injury during her freshman year at Moore High School. At the time of the accident, Sara was a straight A student and was a first chair violinist. After visiting Florida and swimming with the dolphins, she wanted to become a Marine Biologist. Sara was cared for by her mother, Tina, until her passing in 2014. Sara’s Uncle and Aunt, Micheal and Angela Eagle, took care of her for the remainder of her life in Springfield, Kentucky. Sara was not only cared for 24 hours a day 7 days a week by them and her nurses, Brandi Roller and Aimee Watson, but she was also loved beyond measure. Angela taught Sara how to mouth “I love you,” and her favorite, “No way Jose.” Sara gave great kisses and hugs; she would belly laugh and her smile would light up the room. She touched so many hearts from her doctors, nurses, therapists, friends, and family.
The family cannot thank Micheal and Angela more for the love and care they bestowed on Sara every day for the past 10 years.
Sara was preceded in death by her mother, Tina Louise Hilbert; her grandparents, Edward (Bud) Murray, Nancy Murray, and Joseph Hilbert, Sr.
She is survived by her father, Joseph Hilbert, Jr.; her grandmother, Earline Drummond (Rick) of Louisville; her brother, Christopher Hilbert of Louisville; her sister, Savannah Puckett of Louisville; her aunts and uncles, Cheryl Ballard (Steven) of Fisherville, Edward Murray (Lisa) of Florida, Daniel Murray of Colorado, Terry Lever (Paul) of Texas, Alan Murray (Andrea) of Alabama, Annette Burgin (Kevin) of Waddy, and Angela Eagle (Micheal) of Springfield; along with her 2 nephews, 3 nieces and many extended family members and friends.
Sara’s transition to Heaven is felt by her family and friends who loved her deeply. The family appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make a memorial gift to StJude.Org. or to the Make-A-Wish foundation instead of flowers.
