Sharron A. McDonald, 75, of Louisville, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Summerfield Manor Nursing Home.
Sharron was born in Louisville on October 15, 1939, the oldest child of Raymond and Dorothy McDonald. In 1957 she graduated from Holy Rosary Academy, and in 1962 she graduated with a degree in English from the University of Louisville. Sharron first began teaching in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and then moved to Cincinnati where she received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati. She taught English at Norwood High School for 13 years, and then third grade at Norwood View Elementary for seven more years before retiring. She loved being a mother, teacher, playing the piano, gardening, hiking, and contra dancing.
Sharron was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy, and her brother Michael McDonald.
Sharron is survived by her sisters, Mary (Ed) Small and Anita McDonald; brother, Robert McDonald; son, Thomas Dougherty (Victoria) of Orlando; and her daughter, Anne Bryant (Jay) of Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cincinnati Nature Center, where Sharron loved to volunteer and hike.
Sharron's family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Ky 40216
