BAUER, STUART A., 83, of Louisville passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013.
He was the founder of Stuart Bauer Pools and Spas, Inc., which he started from his home in 1965. His daily exhibit of hard work, attention to detail, creative mind and desire to please each customer that walked through his door, turned his once home office, into the award winning and reputable family business that it continues to be today. He was a man of the highest integrity and his character goes unmatched.
He was an active member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ where he gave countless hours of his time to better serve his community and enrich his faith. His family and his faith were everything to him and he spent his life serving both.
Stuart was a strong, smart, honest, and loving man, always a true gentleman. He will forever be remembered for his value of hard work, his constant generosity, his inability to take a day off, his love for the Wildcats and his nightly bowl of ice cream. He led his life by example and he set the bar high, truly an amazing man. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Bauer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Ann (Raeber) Bauer; children, John Allen Bauer, Michael Stuart Bauer (Cathy), Janet Garvey (Kevin) and Don Bauer (Kathryn); grandchildren, Kimberly Sternberg, Eric Bauer, Lauren Rayborn, Jennifer Blanton, Matthew Muller, Kristina Garvey, Ashley Bauer, Brent Bauer, Andrew Muller, Gavin Bauer, Jason Garvey, Cody Bauer and Victoria Bauer; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernie Bauer (Sissy) and Bruce Bauer (Susan); and sister, Catherine Huff (Ray).
His service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 1875 Farnsley Road, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens, West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., and after 10a.m. Friday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Stephen United Church of Christ or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
