AKERS, TED L., 95, of Lagrange, KY, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009. He retired as principal of LaGrange Elementary, Liberty Elementary and Floyd County Elementary Schools. His memberships include LaGrange Baptist Church, a Deacon at DeHaven Baptist Church, Oldham County Lyons Club and Oldham County Retired Teachers Association. He is a Navy World War II veteran and was stationed in Okinawa. In 1964 he was named Oldham County Man of the Year. He is preceded in death by two sons, Juan W. Akers (infant) and Jan Neil Akers. Survivors included his wife, Pauline Elizabeth (Edwards) Akers; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte (Shrader) Akers; a granddaughter, Shannon Seebert (Michael); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oldham County Funeral Home, 706 W. Jefferson St., with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to LaGrange Baptist Church in his memory or the American Cancer Society in memory of his son, Jan Akers.
