BOYD, THELMA ELDRIDGE , 87, of Barbourville, the widow of Dr. John H. Boyd, passed away Wednesday evening, November 7, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Elvin and Lovie Cooley Eldridge, born on July 6, 1920 in Wises Landing, KY. Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sligo Baptist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Knox County Hospital Auxiliary and the Homemakers Club. Mrs. Boyd was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking and raising flowers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll and Milburn Eldridge; and a step-grandchild, Troy Willis. Survivors include her children, Carol Hackett and husband, John, of Harsens Island, MI and Alicia Willis and husband, Ken, of Jonesville, VA; a sister, Norma Perkinson of LaGrange; a grandson, James Ewing III; several step-grandchildren and step-great- grandchildren; and other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. Her funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2007, in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home, with Dr. Joel Allen officiating. Casket bearers will be family and friends. Interment will be in the Louisville Memorial Gardens East at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2007. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
