Theodore Zirnheld

Theodore Douglas Zirnheld, 93, entered eternal rest on June 6, 2022.  He was born to Roy and Ethel Zirnheld on May 18, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Roy Jr., along with his beloved wife of 66 years, Regina Hilbert Zirnheld.

Ted is survived by his sister, Eva Mae; brothers, David and Richard Zirnheld; his loving daughter, Donita Phillips; his wife, Thelma Zirnheld; and his stepsons, Gene, Jerry, Tony, Claude and Tommy Jeffries.

He was an Army veteran and the owner of Zirnheld’s Produce for many years until he retired.  He was in the Jefferson County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for 30 years and he rode in the Kentucky Derby parades with them for 25 years.  He loved and raised racing pigeons and belonged to the Hi View Pigeon Club for many years.  Ted loved hunting, fishing, boating and taking care of his farm and his beloved little Jackie and her pal Bela.

Donations may be made in Ted’s honor to Hospice Palliative Care.  Thanks for their care and kindness.

Funeral services to celebrate Ted’s life will be held at Noon on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 1PM until 7PM and Friday from 10AM until service time at the funeral home.  Entombment with military rites will follow.
