CLARK, THOMAS ANTHONY "TONY," 32, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Nathan Clark; his maternal grandparents, John and Zelma Sturgill; and his paternal grandmother, Irene Clark. Tony graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, SC, where he earned a bachelor's degree in both culinary arts and business administration. He was an accomplished chef. Tony is survived by his fiancée, Christina Davis; his parents, Janet Spence (John) and Thomas Clark (Barbara); his brothers, Jonathan Clark (Emily), Andrew Spence (Jennifer) and James Mattingly (Jamie); a sister, Ellen Smith (Richard); his paternal grandfather, Joseph Clark; two nephews, Cain Clark and Langan Smith; three nieces, Chloe Smith and Aubrey and Emma Mattingly; and his favorite aunt, Anita Block. Tony also has many cousins, aunts, and uncles who have played a significant role in his life. Tony will always be remembered for his love of learning, his sense of humor and his indomitable spirit. Visitation at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. A service to celebrate Tony's life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be sent to either The James Graham Brown Cancer Center or the Home of the Innocents in memory of Nathan Clark.
