WHALEN, TOM, 67, of Louisville, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010.
He was a retired sergeant first class in the 101st Airborne Unit in the U.S. Army, after two tours in Vietnam. He also retired from the VA Medical Center as a purchasing agent and was a member of the Middletown VFW post #1170 and American Legion Shepherdsville Post #157. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Jackie Whalen; two daughters, Tish Carothers (Derek) and Theresa Patton; a son, Tony Whalen, (Terri); brother, Joseph Whalen, (Terrie); three grandchildren and a special friend, Shirley Lott.
His funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Pearson-Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, in Middletown with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home
