Vergie Childers

Childers, Vergie View/Sign Guest Book CHILDERS, VERGIE, 81, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. She was a retired employee of Gordons Potato Chips, where she worked for 25 years. She was a Baptist and worshiped at Harvest Church of God. Vergie was a U of L basketball fan and she loved to walk 2 or 3 miles a day, mostly at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Childers. Survivors include her sons, Dannie Childers (Sandra), Emmett Childers, and Donald Childers (Sheryl); eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Nellie Fregia; half brothers, Lewis "Junior" Kerr and Bobby Kerr; half sister, Lois Duvall; and extended family and a host of friends. A special thank you is given from the family to Hosparus, for all the love and help given. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
