Craven, Verland Ancel,92, went peacefully to be with our Heavenly Father and his Eternal Love, Margie, on July 11, 2015.He was a Charter Member of America's Greatest Generation, rightfully earned by serving his country as a Marine in the South Pacific during World War II, by being a part of and living the post war American Dream, by being a devoted husband, father, family member, and friend.He was a true inspiration to all of the lives that he touched.He enjoyed his retirement of thirty plus years, boating and fishing on his beloved Lake Cumberland, following Kentucky Basketball, and just being a good person, who all of us could count on.He was a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed the faith and fellowship of his many friends there.He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Margie, his sisters Catherine, Thelma, Louise, Helen, and Angie; his brothers Bus, Rudy and Connie and his beloved granddaughter, Shelley McDonnaugh.He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Bobby Craven (Sharon), granddaughters, Christine Ward (Barry), Stacy Fernandez (Dave), and Stephanie Boley; a grandson, Mack McDonnaugh; great grandchildren, Tate and Macy Ward, Jordyn McDonnaugh and Lindsey Roland.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday, 4 - 8 p.m.
