Verna Shaw

SHAW, VERNA THOMPSON, 101, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007. She was born in Chaumount, KY in 1906 to Ike and Lou Thompson. She was a faithful member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and had a great many friends over her long lifetime and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Crit Shaw; daughter, Ruth Watt; grandson, Larry Rogers; brothers, Irvin and Elmer Thompson. She is survived by her sisters, Alma Miller and Alene Geis of Louisville; grandson, Phillip Rogers (Pat); great- grandchildren, Chad Rogers (Teresa) of Ohio, Tracie Oliver and Cory Rogers (Jen) and their mother, Karen Rogers, of Nevada; nephews, Dennis Miller (Louise) of Louisville, Richard Thompson (Ruth) of MI; and a niece, Lou Ira Salley (Clyde) of Park City, KY. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to her church would be appreciated, St. Mark United Methodist Church, 4611 Lowe Road, Louisville, KY 40220-1531.
