Violet Lee Hatfield, a loving wife, mother and grandmother was called to her heavenly home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 76. She was born June 7, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky to Leon and Blanche Bruce. She married her true love, Robert Clayton Hatfield, Sr., on June 20, 1962 and they were blessed with four children.
Violet loved watching butterflies, birds, and UofK sports, and she loved listening to Elvis, the Marty Stuart Show, and the sound of her grandchildren playing in the house and yard. Violet went by many names. Working for JCPS, she was known as Mrs. Violet by those she served in the classroom. At home, she was Mom, for she watched over and protected her own with love. But by many, many more, she was known as Momma Violet, for no one left her house or her company without experiencing the love and support that she would give to her own. When asking someone of her most memorable qualities, the answer would always point to the measure of her heart.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children, Bobby (Lisa), Bonnie (Joe), Sandy, and Renee (Eric); her grandchildren, Brent, Trey (Taylor), Levi, Easton, and Benjamin; and several friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her thirteen siblings, her daughter, Edith, and her grandson, Gregory.
