Coates, Warren Wendell View/Sign Guest Book COATES, WARREN WENDELL, 84, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha Elizabeth (Harrington) Coates. He is survived by his son, Terry Lee Coates (June); and grandson, Max Adrian Coates. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in a searchlight battalion while in the military. He saw service in Oahu, Hawaii, and toward the end of the war in Okinawa, during the time when a vicious typhoon hit the island. He was a native-born Californian and was born in Oakland. He worked at American Synthetic Rubber Co. for over 30 years, as an instrument mechanic and was a highly disciplined person, who survived over 50 years of diabetes. He had a 60 year marriage to his adored wife, Martha. He was a good father, father-in-law and grandfather. He always seemed to be giving much more than he received. He was loved immensely by his family and will be forever missed. His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons-Southwest, 4832 Cane Run Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
