PLAUCHE', WILLIAM J. "BILLY," A True Cajun in Bluegrass, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his home in Louisville.

Born on October 12, 1927, Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who lived life to the fullest. He was an expert woodworker and a member of the Woodworker's Club that met at Walden School. He enjoyed countless hours crafting intricate wooden toys that he often donated to children in local hospitals. He was an avid member of the Indian Springs Poker Club. He was a great father, friend and mentor to his son and local businessman, Ward.

William J. Plauche' was born in Kerrville, TX, to William John Plauche', Sr. and Hortense Rodrigue. Following his dad's untimely death when he was only four, Billy was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather Gordon Moore. He was a member of the graduating class of Holy Cross New Orleans in 1945, and attended Loyola University. In 1950, Billy married Patricia Ward of New Orleans while serving his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Throughout his full life, Billy had many jobs and many passions. In 1965, he moved his young family to Louisville, only to have to return to N.O. five years later to oversee his family's business. Finally in 1995, he and his beloved wife "Patsy" returned to Louisville, where they happily lived the remainder of their lives loving being Cajuns in Bluegrass country.

Billy is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Ward Plauche'.

Survived by his children, Marcy Grandomincio (Gary) of Columbus, OH, Ward J. Plauche' (Ginger) of Louisville, KY. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Bradford, Maggie Grandominico, Nick (Irene) Grandominico and Kaylie Plauche'; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Bradford.

Calling hours will be 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 North Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville, KY (502) 957-5200. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19th at the funeral home followed by internment at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers, Billy graciously asks his many loving and beloved friends to bet $10 across-the-board for him on whatever horse Calvin Borel rides in this year's Kentucky Derby!
