HESS, WILBERT G. "WILL," 91, of Louisville died Saturday, December 15, 2007. He was born July 27, 1916 in Chicago, IL and owned and operated Will Furniture Co. for 30 years. He was a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church. He served his country in the US Army as a technical sergeant during World War II and received an honorable discharge November 9, 1945. He was stationed in Europe with Gen. Eisenhower's SHAEF headquarters in the advance personnel unit and had the code name SHIPMATE. He was a member of the SHAEF/ETOUSA retired military organization and Zachary Taylor Post of the American Legion. He was proud of his service to his country. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Eleanor J. "Pat" Hess; and his parents, Sigmund S. and Louise F. Hess. He is survived by his children, Jim Hess (Polly), of Sumter, SC and Jayne Babbitt (Bill); grandchildren, Lyndsey Meredith (Jeff), Ryan Babbitt (Gina) and James Wilbert Ryan Hess; brother-in-law, Jack Thomas, of Logansport, IN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road, with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation: 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
