Benny Little

April 14, 1926 — June 25, 2008

Little, Benny View/Sign Guest Book LITTLE, BENNY, 82, was released from this world to the next on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. A native of Birmingham, AL, he lived in Shively, KY for over 50 years. He was a member of Shively Christian Church, where he served as a church elder for over 40 years and where he forged a lifelong friendship with Virgil and Virginia Tapp. He retired from the Defense Mapping Agency, where he worked for 30 years and was an avid gardener and scholar. Benny is best known by many for his quiet and servant-led life. A very private man, he would shy away from the accolades that could easily fill volumes. But those whose lives he touched know he personified the word gentleman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eugie Little; and his bride of 53 years, Luella Little. Those he left to carry on his legacy include his four children, Laura Lee Davis (Hugo), of Elizabethtown, KY, Brian Lamar Little (Kim), of Laurel, DE, Lynn Marie Stewart, of Nicholasville, KY and Brent Little, of Louisville; his grandchildren, Christopher (Danielle) and Leandra Rice, Amanda, Zachary and Sydney Little and Dustin Wayne and Shain Marie Stewart; and great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Isabella and MadaLynn. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Linda (Phil); brothers, Roy and Fred (Elise); and a number of nieces and nephews. We will celebrate his life at 1 p.m. Saturday at Foreman's, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown, with interment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, he has requested expressions of sympathy to be forwarded to Cedar Lake Lodge or Shively Christian Church. Published in The Courier-Journal on 6/27/2008.
