Earl W. Day Share E-mail Visit Guest Book DAY, EARL W., 78, of Shively, passed away Thursday July 30, 2009 at St. Mary's and Elizabeth Hospital.
He was a native of Hart County. Earl worked for Hobart Mfg. Co. for 28 years as a painter/inspector prior to working with his son, Gary, and managing Gary Day's Auto Service.
He was a member of Cub Run Missionary Baptist Church in Hart County but attended Rockford View United Baptist Church, a Member of Mary Dale Men's Club, Local #89 and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Leetha Day; sister, Beatrice Pierce; and brothers Wendell and Rev. Daymond Day.
Mr. Day is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Berdie Day the former Berdie Dorsey; son, Gary (Denise); grandson, Matthew Adam Day; granddaughter, Ashley Wilkins (Donnie); great-grandchildren, Aryahna and Nolin Day and Jagger Wilkins; sister, Louise Day Walters (Johnny) and brother, Jimmy Day, of Cave City.
Funeral service celebrating Earl's life will be 11 a.m. Monday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation for family and friends will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. prior to services on Monday.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in the CCU at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society .
