Hayse, Edna Coates View/Sign Guest Book HAYSE, EDNA COATES, 98, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Whitesburg Gardens Health Care Center. She was a former resident of Louisville and a native of Grayson County, KY. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Owens Cross Roads. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Argo Hayse. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita and Clifton King of Owens Cross Roads, AL; two sons, Fred and Catherine) Hayse of Cecilia, KY, and Brad and Janet Hayes of Sulphur, KY; stepdaughter, Mary and Leroy Miles of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday. He was born in Clarkson, KY, July 5, 1922. He was the son of the late Samuel E. and Bertha J. Hayse. After being self-employed in the creamery and produce business, Mr. Hayse retired from Sears in Valley Station in 1987, where he was employed for 17 years. He was an active member of Irvington Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, and traveling with his wife and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Hayse Sr.; two grandsons, Todd Leonard and Robbie Jackson; and a brother, Frank Hayse. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce Collins Hayse; two sons, Bobby Joe Hayse (Kathy) of Bedford, IN, and Johnny Lee Hayse (Wilma) of Hardinsburg, KY; one daughter, Susan Ann Myers (David) of Taylor Mill, KY; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Carter; six grandchildren, Jimmy Hayse Jr., Jerry Lee Hayse, Jay Hayse, Ryan Hayse, Hayley Myers and Collin Myers; one brother, Samuel Hayse; and two sisters, Jane Hayse and Margaret Hayse. Services will be at noon EDT Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, with Bro. Jerry Shacklett officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington.
