BRENNER, HIRAM E. "GENE," 82, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Nazareth Home.

Born in Picayune, MS in 1928, Gene spent most of his adult life in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he loved nothing better than cheering for his LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints and enjoying some local seafood. Upon moving to Louisville six years age he embraced the Cardinals as his new team.

He retired after a long career in sales from Westinghouse Electrical Supply Company. Gene was Southern Baptist and a lifetime 32nd degree Mason with Lodge 417 in Lumberton, Mississippi.

He will be missed by family and friends, especially for his jokes and his ability to make everyone laugh.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Louise (Strickland); and his parents Eva (Brock) and Hiram Brenner.

Gene leaves behind a loving family, including three daughters, Susan B. Wolfe (Stephen) of Louisville, Elizabeth Medlock (Guy), of Florida and Barbara J. Daneshrad, ( Sion) of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Jason A. Troxle (Nikki), of Louisville, Matthew A. Troxle (Rosey), of Texas, Jennifer E. Medlock, of Florida, Nathaniel Daneshrad (Tova) and Daniel Daneshrad ( Ester), of New York; along with six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Monday, 2-8 p.m. Service at Owen Funeral Home is on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nazareth Home Pastoral Care, 2000 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY 40205 Gene's family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Nazareth Home who gave him such loving care and friendship.
