James I. French Jr. Share E-mail Visit Guest Book FRENCH, JAMES I. JR., 84, of Louisville, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009.
He was a retired employee of Ford Motor Company, attended Beechland Baptist Church, was a member of the UAW, and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was affectionately known as the Mayor of Sleepy Hollow.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Martha E. French, and a grandson, Jamie French.
Survivors include a son, James Douglas "Doug" French; daughters, Phyllis Hartlage (Doug) and Brenda Gentry (Dale); sisters, Dorothy Bowling, Laura Huffman, Patsy Hays, and Margaret McFelia; brothers, Bill, Bobby and John French; grandchildren, Kelly Hartlage. Todd Hartlage (Nicki), Donnie French, Jennifer Petaja (Matthew), and Justin Gentry (Caitlin); and seven great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
