Mr. Smith, born in Pewee Valley, KY, was a professional musician.
Surviving family includes his wife, Sandra Johnson Smith; six siblings; two children; seven grandchildren; 24 nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be conducted 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway (447-4220). Family and friends will visit 4 p.m. until service time (7 p.m.) at the funeral home.

The family prefers, if you wish, contributions to the family to assist with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.
