Mabel Phillips

PHILLIPS, MABEL MCCARTY, 92, a lifelong resident of Louisville, KY, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 9, 2014. She was currently residing at the Westbury Medical home in Jackson, GA. Mabel was born in Louisville, on Sept. 23, 1921 to the late Lemuel and Mable McCarty. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Howard Phillips, and her precious grandson, Dan Phillips. She graduated from Shawnee High School, was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and loved music, flowers, animals and most of all her family. She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Hart (Lawson) of Lake St. Louis, MO, Diane Greene (Robert) of Ootelwah, TN, Frances Cosby (Larry) of Columbus, GA, and Betty Korns (Dennis) of McDonough, GA; three sons, Charles Phillips (Andrea) of Corydon, IN, Edward Phillips (Patricia) of OFallon, MO and Mark Phillips of Louisville, KY; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd. with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kosair Charities.
