PAYTON, WALALEE, 95, of Louisville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her home.
She was a member of Garrs Lane United Methodist Church, where she was active with the Keen Club and WMU. She also had served as president of the Helping Hands Group. She was a homemaker of 53 years to the love of her life, Kenneth C. Payton, who preceded her in death.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Tatum; a sister, Rose Gunther; and brothers, William A., Jim, Jack and Frank Fulkerson.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Payton Sumner (Biff); sisters, Minnie Dotson, Christine Hemmerle, Libby Allsbrook (Linwood), Evelyn Harlament, and Becky Jennewein; brothers, Clarence Fulkerson (Sharon), of Eugene, OR and Calvin Fulkerson (Janie), of Lanesville, IN; grandchildren, Steven Sumner (Terry Baker), Kenny Sumner (Tracy), Tracy Lynn Sumner, Debbie Jones (Phil), Joelene Tatum and Joel "Sonny" Tatum; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to caregivers Joelene and Debbie (granddaughters), Daniel Ritchey, Donna Grubb, Tina Miller, Rhonda Royal, Trina Kimball, and Paula Kimball; and to Hosparus for all their help.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garrs Lane United Methodist Church (formerly Parkview) or Hosparus of Louisville.
